The Uke Song 03:50
Baby the world's off-kilter, and my heart don't filter All the truths and all the lies and all the times I thought I'd seen enough. So with a windswept daydream and a disco ray-beam, Through the gloom and through the rain and through the sludge I'll never give it up. I've been so true. So why? And there you were, looking as pretty as always In a hideous hallway. The city of Galway Couldn't shine as bright as you were shining that evening No I am not leaving, don't you try and deceive me into Going back to where I came from this morning Those eyes you're adorning could keep me till morning And I could wait an entire millennium For one carpe diem with you. So if you're gonna break my heart, Please get out the hammer and break it all the way Because I'm slipping through the cracks you left me The traps are deadly and I don't think I can stay. So if you're gonna break my heart, Please get out the hammer and break it all the way Because I'm slipping through the cracks you left me The traps are deadly and I don't think I can stay. Baby the world's off-kilter, and my heart don't filter All the truths and all the lies and all the times I thought I'd seen enough. So with a windswept daydream and a disco ray-beam, Through the gloom and through the rain and through the sludge I'll never give it up. I've been so true. So why?

Cold are the winds between us, a shiver in the sun. Dark are the clouds that hold her and trickle slowly down the evening, Because she thought I wouldn't know; She thought her eyes they wouldn't show. How every speck of a doubt she's been toting about Couldn't cut through the clout of despair. And when I saw her I said “Baby, I know. I know the things you've been through”. Beneath the moonlight she was standing alone Beneath the festering truth. And I said love. Isn't it so fine and I've got you on my mind and all those Wickenden kids are smashing on the walls So loud that you can hear them out in Central Falls. So as the night it dwindled and swept her from within, She drew a picture of the villain on the bathroom mirror. She knew her mind had gone astray. She took a glance and ran away. And in the midst of the shame she had lost her own name And the notions that came with it.

Modern Minds 02:35
Oscillations shine Between the twisting vines. I think I'm gonna stay And hear the Pearson chimes. Electro-vision trip Delivered by her lips, For days and days those words of mine Were stuck on her tongue's tip. Symphonic radiation fills my eyes; I don't know where to begin. I watch the colors dripping from the sky The way the rain drips down her skin. Modern minds lay thoughtless and defeated on the floor. I don't find this place any better than before. Empty reflections line the eyes to conceal The twenty million starving for a reason to feel. Interconnected in a divided way, They cross the station screaming “I don't care! I don't care!” I don't Need a good reason not to follow the queue, To rip the fucking thunder off the side of the moon. Drained of their nectar, blooming thoughts wilt away. She wrung my heart out like the dirty rag it's been since day one.

I've crashed upon the shore again For beauty is as tragic as it seems. The siren's song is deadly when I hear you softly whispering the theme. To watch the city from above You're missing out on all the noisy games Tirelessly dreaming of The way things were, that they could be the same Such is the way, such is the way of the Bleeding sunset in watercolor Gone are the days, gone are the days where I know That you love me baby. That you love me darling. You've planted all those daffodils Just to watch them drowning in the rain, And as surely as the battle kills The puddles part with petals in the drain. Such is the way, such is the way of the Bleeding sunset in watercolor Gone are the days, gone are the days where I know That you love me baby. That you love me darling.

And so the sun must rise again I saw the words scrawled out in pen A monument across the hall A moment written on the wall It said, “I love you” It said, “I love you” My world collapsed the night we had to part Honey you know that I'm not quite so light at heart And though I may seem aloof I'm simply searching for proof Of love. I don't believe it can exist There's no such thing as permanence A single point in space and time Reflections always past their prime Is lust a crime? For here I've found the artifact That proves the earth is still intact I saw the words scrawled out in pen And so the sun must rise again It said, “I love you” It said, “I love you” My world collapsed the night we had to part Honey you know that I'm not quite so light at heart And though I may seem aloof I'm simply searching for proof Of love
